This weekend, Denver concertgoers have the rare opportunity to experience the world premiere of a new symphony as the Colorado Symphony opens 2012 with a brilliant beginning to the New Year. In two must-attend concerts, the Colorado Symphony premieres William Hill's Symphony No. 3, led by American conductor Larry Rachleff on Friday, January 6 and Saturday, January 7. Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets currently start at only $19.

An exceptional event in the music world, this premiere is remarkable for countless reasons, including the fact that Hill calls Colorado home. One of America's most respected living composers, Hill also serves as principal timpanist of the Colorado Symphony and teaches music composition at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. With the world premiere of his Symphony No. 3, audiences have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience a new orchestral work live for the very first time, performed by musicians whose passion for the art form – and thrill in bringing new music to life – is simply contagious.

According to Hill, the first sketches for his Symphony No. 3 were written in July 2011. The score was composed from the middle of August through October, and completed on October 27, 2011.
