Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir 2.0 Revealed - Paley Center For Media April 7th, 2011

Light & Gold, Whitacre’s #1 Billboard Classical Chart Topping Decca Debut out on CD April 5th, 2011

On April 7th, 2011 composer Eric Whitacre will reveal his VIRTUAL CHOIR 2.0, the record breaking online video, in a world premiere event at The Paley Center For Media. This virtual choir, the largest assembled online in history, sings Whitacre’s composition “Sleep”, a track off of his new Decca recording, Light & Gold, which will be released on CD April 5th, 2010.

In September 2010, Eric Whitacre put out a call to his network of thousands of fans through Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for singers to submit video recordings of themselves singing parts of “Sleep”, with a goal of creating the largest online choir of at least 900 singers. http://ericwhitacre.com/the-virtual-choir.

The effort was a massive success. By the time entries closed in early January 2011 2052 people from 58 countries around the world submitted videos of their performances!
