Hilary Hahn Premieres New Violin Concerto Tonight

Hilary Hahn keeps a demanding concert schedule and this month is no exception. She is playing 13 concerts in 28 days, bouncing from LA to Indianapolis to Seattle to Sarasota. Tonight she's premiering a new Violin Concerto by Jennifer Higdon with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. But with her hectic schedule, she's had to put her trust in composer Jennifer Higdon to support her confidence in tonight's concert. It wasn't until this week's rehearsals with the symphony that she performed the work in its final form.

After the premiere, Hilary will be starting a tour with Ukrainian-born pianist Valentina Lisitsa. Hilary's latest album is up for a Grammy and the reviews of her performances continue to be stellar. Richard S. Ginell of the LA Times wrote:

"Glazunov’s Violin Concerto -- still a staple in the CD catalogs but not performed much in concerts these days -- found violinist Hilary Hahn playing with a small, pristine, perfectly proportioned tone, burning on a cool, objective interpretive flame at all times. This was hyper-Romantic music viewed at an ironic distance, though impeccably played."

Tickets for the premiere tonight can be purchased from the Indianapolis Symphony website or call the Box Office at 317.639.4300 or 800.366.8457 (outside Central Indiana) for more information.
