The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra is holding its first contest through Twitter, the newest social networking site that allows users to send and receive updates from other users. These messages, known as “tweets,” are text based messages that are limited to 140 characters. Through tweets, the BSO will deliver clues leading users to the hidden location of the last pair of Trey Anastasio tickets. To sweeten the deal, the winner will also receive a dinner for two at a local restaurant before the concert. The first clue, delivered on Tuesday, April 21, read “Phishing for the last two Trey Anastasio tickets? Be the first to arrive at our secret location on May 5 @ 5pm.” Additional clues will be posted throughout the week. Since announcing the contest to the public, the BSO has gained more than 200 followers on Twitter.

Trey Anastasio will join the BSO for one night only on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The sold-out program features the East Coast premiere of Anastasio’s composition Time Turns Elastic, as well as several Phish classics. Today, the BSO released an additional 100 tickets for purchase on Ticketmaster.com.
