Symphony performs in and around the region including Red Rocks, Arvada Center, PACE, Lone Tree, Civic Center Park, Denver Botanic Gardens and Boettcher Concert Hall This July, the Colorado Symphony, as part of its new direction of engaging and connecting with communities, will be appearing in several different venues throughout the region performing a wide variety of programming. The capability and diversity of the Colorado Symphony is clearly on display throughout the month as performances include a full repertoire of traditional patriotic music, along with tributes to American composer John Williams, Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops, Mozart and legendary rock and roll band Queen. On May 13th, Leftover Salmon will take over Santa Fe Drive in the heart of Denver’s Arts District for a free block party and performance presented by 97.3 KBCO celebrating the long-awaited release of ‘Aquatic Hitchhiker’ (5.22, LoS), the band’s first album in eight years. Sponsored by Breckenridge Brewery and Renegade Brewery, the event is also a benefit for the non-profit organization Conscious Alliance , which raises money for underprivileged communities. The concert is free and open to the public, food and beverages will be sold and iClips will host an online live stream for viewers at home. iClips is also currently presenting ‘Salmonlandia’, a behind-the-scenes documentary outlining Leftover Salmon’s return to the studio. There is a lot of work that goes into creating a symphony orchestra, particularly in terms of gaining an audience. Re-inventing the orchestra takes time too, but we're off to a good start thanks to the power of our musicians! TwtrSymphony started as a lark (pun intended) two months ago. What originally was as much a challenge, a dare, as an earnest idea is becoming something so much more. The blossoming of TwtrSymphony into the world is really due to the outstanding, enthusiastic musicians. We are followed by other orchestras, leading industry professionals and we are even speaking with potential sponsors all on the power of our social media network. While we approach performance in a very different way than other symphony orchestras, it is our extensive use of social media as a tool for connection which sets us apart.  Our goal is to have our first piece " Birds of a Feather" -- a symphony in four movements, out by mid-June.  This demanding schedule means music...

New documentary about the famed English contralto is released along with a complete collection of her Decca recordings Sunday April 22, 2012 marked the centenary of one of the finest and most beloved singers of the 20th century – the English contralto, Kathleen Ferrier. Her international career lasted just eight years, from 1946 until her untimely death in 1953 from cancer at the age of 41, but her unparalleled artistry still has an impact today.
