For the first time in its history, this year’s Symphony Ball will feature the sounds of The Colorado Symphony for both listening pleasure and dancing. The ball, held this year on Saturday, April 28, 2012, will take place at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel and begins at 6:00 PM. SOUTHBANK CENTRE’S ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL LONDON 23 MAY 2011 7.30pm The Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, supported by Askonas Holt Ltd and Southbank Centre, announced today that its London concert is to be a benefit event for the victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on 11 March. The entire proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the Japanese Red Cross Society and the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund, both of which are distributing aid to help people in the affected areas. The London concert is part of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra’s 50th anniversary tour this May under the baton of its longtime Principal Conductor Tadaaki Otaka with a programme of Takemitsu’s How Slow the Wind , Bruch’s Violin Concerto No 1 in G minor – with celebrated Japanese violinist Akiko Suwanai - and Shostakovich’s Symphony No 5 in D minor.

The Baltimore Symphony Associates host their annual holiday fundraiser, Symphony Homes for the Holidays, on December 10-11, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The tour will take place in the Falls Road Corridor area of Lutherville, Md. The tour starting point is Padonia Park Club located at: 12006 Jenifer Road, Cockeysville, Md., 21030. Each year, approximately 2,000 people attend this seasonal self-guided tour of historic and elegant homes. Homeowners loan the use of the first floor to be decorated by local professional floral designers and talented amateur garden club members. Guests arrive at the tour starting point and receive a tour map of the featured homes. Guests can peruse the gift shop located at the tour’s start and purchase seasonal gifts and specialty decorations and visit the holiday snack shop for hot and cold drinks, pastries and other treats. All proceeds benefit the educational programs of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Music retail store Music and Arts to repair donated instruments at no cost Baltimore Symphony Orchestra announces a Musical Instrument Drive, which runs from November 29 to December 17, 2010. The BSO invites the community to donate musical instruments in good to fair condition to benefit OrchKids, the BSO’s after-school music program that serves youth in West Baltimore. Music & Arts will provide instrument repair on donations when necessary at no cost. A one hundred instrument goal has been set for this holiday season. Each Holiday season, for the four weeks following Thanksgiving, WMAR TV sponsors a Toy Drive. The call for musical instruments to benefit OrchKids is a new component of this annual event. WMAR TV will team up with WEAA FM (88.9) to promote the Drive on the air and on their websites over the four weeks as well as serve as drop off sites.

Kicking off Fidelity FutureStage 2010, 200 students—representing Boston Arts Academy, Boston Latin Academy, Cambridge Rindge & Latin, and the Roland Hayes School of Music—are sure to be in for a big surprise when Keith Lockhart and Fidelity FutureStage unveil $100,000 worth of new musical instruments to be donated to the four Boston Public Schools, Tuesday, February 9, at 1 p.m. at Symphony Hall.
