World Premiere of Chris Thile's Mandolin Concerto with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra

From Bach to Bluegrass, Chris Thile performs with outstanding virtuosity and passion. He is coming to Denver to perform the world premiere of his Mandolin Concerto with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Acclaimed as one of today's most exceptional musicians, Thile is well-known for his bluegrass band Nickel Creek and his current band, The Punch Brothers. Also on the program, Kahane performs Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and conducts William Hill's Four Moments Musical and Copland's Suite from Billy the Kid.

The mid September Concert Preludes will be hosted by Colorado Symphony Orchestra President and CEO Jim Palermo on Thursday night, Music Director Jeffrey Kahane on Saturday night and John Sheinbaum, associate professor of music at Lamont School of Music, on Sunday afternoon. Held one hour before each concert in Boettcher Concert Hall, Concert Preludes are free to ticket holders and offer valuable insight into the repertoire on each program.

Can't make it before the concert? Stay after the concert on Saturday for an informal post-concert TalkBack hosted by Jeffrey Kahane, Chris Thile and William Hill, Colorado Symphony Orchestra principal timpanist and composer.
