This Weekend at the Colorado Symphony

SMETANA, SIBELIUS, GRIEG CSO Masterworks Fri-Sun | Mar 5-7 Jeffrey Kahane, music director André Watts, piano

This concert opens with Smetana's The Moldau from Ma Vlast and highlights several works by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius including Lemminkäinen's Return, Swan of Tuonela and his most well-known piece, Finlandia. For the second half of the program, Pianist André Watts returns to the Colorado Symphony to give a rousing performance of Grieg's epic Piano Concerto.

"In the years since he filled in for Glenn Gould with the New York Philharmonic, Mr. Watts' technique has gained in brilliance and strength, while his insights have become exquisitely penetrating and detailed." – The New York Times

Chip will be attending Friday night and posting his review of this exciting concert!
