Martina McBride Joins the Boston Pops for July 4 Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular

Replacing Lionel Richie, who has withdrawn from the Boston Pops Fourth of July concert due to strained vocal chords, Country music superstar Martina McBride steps in at the last minute, saving the day, to join Conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra in one of the nation’s proudest holiday traditions, the Boston Pops’ Fourth-of-July concert at the Hatch Shell on Boston’s Charles River Esplanade, on Monday, July 4.

Emmy Award-winning actor and Boston-area native Michael Chiklis ("The Shield") will host the special and join the Pops to perform one of his original songs with the US Army Chorus. The concert will also feature patriotic favorites and a rock-themed sing-a-long including "Born in the USA" and "Coming to America."

"I am extremely disappointed to cancel my performance with the Boston Pops but must follow my doctor's orders. It was such an honor being asked to celebrate the Fourth of July with this legendary orchestra and I hope to perform with them in the future." said Mr. Richie about the cancellation.
