This week at Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival: Dallas Symphony, Miami String Quartet & Philadelphia Orchestra

Tonight's the last night for the Dallas Symphony


Wednesday the 6th of July marks the last night for the Dallas Symphony at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival. After several stunning concerts it's sad to see them leave. Tonight's performance features Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante in E-Flat Major for Violin, Viola and Orchestra, K. 364 and Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony in B Minor, Op. 58.

Thursday features the Miami String Quartet with Benny Kim, Cathy Robinson, Yu Jin and Keith Robinson. They will play Mozart's Flute Quartet in D Major, K. 285, Mendelssohn's Viola Quintet in A Major, Op. 18 and Weber's Clarinet Quintet in B-flat Major, Op. 34 at the Vail Mountain School. There is a pre-concert lecture at 5 with Anne-Marie McDermott, Artistic Director.

Friday is the opening performance of The Philadelphia Orchestra with Rossen Milanov, Conductor and Yuja Wang, Piano. If you've not seen Yuja Wang perform, don't miss this concert. They will be performing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 30 which is featured on Yuja's latest CD. So, you'll not only get to hear one of the greatest pianists of our day perform this amazing work, you can get her to autograph your CD.

Saturday brings the Philadelphia Orchestra back with Hugh Wolff, Conductor and Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Piano, another virtuoso not to be missed! They will be performing Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2 in A Major and Strauss'Suite from Der Rosenkavalier.
